18 Jan Dalj + Prabh
Dalj & Prabh had their Sikh wedding ceremony on the Great Lawn at Vandusen Gardens – a gorgeous spot if you’re looking for a beautiful park setting in Vancouver. The ceremony was mostly traditional, but it was also really unique in that it wasn’t held in a gurdwara (Sikh temple) and the Punjabi and spiritual readings were translated for the benefit of guests who didn’t speak Punjabi. This was my first Sikh wedding, so what a perfect introduction!
I was the second photographer for Dean Sanderson on this one. Dean and I have done a lot of work together over the past couple of years, and it’s always impressive to watch how he interacts with his clients and how he can turn 20 minutes into an amazing photo session. Every time I shoot with him it seems like he’s known the bride and groom for years, but sometimes he’s just met them a few days earlier!
As a second photographer I usually cover the groom and his groomsmen getting ready. Yup, the bride is certainly the focal point of the wedding, but don’t forget about the groom! My next few posts will feature more of a focus on the groom. Enjoy!
